As one of my goals for 2016 I am participating in a movie challenge to watch a different film each week for all 52 weeks of the year – each with a unique theme. Some will be films I have seen before, others will be new, and all of them will adhere as closely as possible to the week’s theme. I will review each of them here weekly and if you like, you can follow along with me on the challenge!  I have listed each week’s challenge at the end of this post. So pop yourself a bowl of popcorn and kick up your feet!

Week 13: A Funny Movie

How to Marry a Millionaire was the funny movie I chose for (last) week because A) I’ve somehow never seen it before and B) How can you go wrong with this star studded cast? It was funny, but not a belly laugh kind of funny. The plight of the furniture being sold and repurchased, in and out of that apartment was pretty funny in itself. The situations the women get themselves into are goofy as well. I guess that’s what happens when you set out a trap to catch three millionaires. The biggest joke was on them in the end- the audience can see it coming but the reaction of Monroe, Grable and Bacall is hilarious and fitting. Mostly it was a joy to watch, the acting from literally every actor was incredible.
