Oscars Fashion 2014

This year’s Oscars had so many fashionable and gorgeous gowns I couldn’t possibly pick just ten of them and rank them like I usually do. So here they all are-  a jumble of crisp architecture, flowing fabric and splashes of color:

This year’s Oscars was hilarious, check out my favorite moments:

2013 Golden Globes

The 70th Golden Globe Awards- honoring excellence in films. Of course a big night for Lincoln and Les Mis- both of which I’ve seen and are AMAZING. And now, onto my countdown of the top gowns of the evening. 🙂

#10 Anne Hathaway

This simple gown fits Anne’s personality in that it is unassuming and really lets her shine without pomp and circumstance.

#9 Nicole Kidman

I love the structure- and punk feel of this gown. I’m not normally one for the see-through dresses, but Nicole can pull it off.

#8 Zooey Deschanel

Never mind the shininess of the dress- the fit is fantastic! It’s a fun dress- just like Zooey’s personality.

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

#7 Helen Mirren

Just lovely.

#6 Kristen Bell

The expectant mother simply glowed in her sparkling gown. 🙂

#5 Kate Hudson

A stunning dress- this is the kind of dress to make a statement in!

#4 Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

These funny ladies were wonderful hosts and looked lovely as always- especially in these gowns. Hope they host again next year!

# 3 Jennifer Lawrence

The fit and color of this gown is stunning on Jennifer- love it!

#2 Amanda Seyfried

I love the structure and the color of this dress on Amanda- it is the right mix of style and comfort for the globes.

And finally…..

#1 Michelle Dockery

This amazing gown is just stunning, and looks like a modern take on Michelle’s gorgeous gowns from the set of Downton Abbey.

Happy movie watching in 2013!

2012 American Music Awards

Sunday night was the 2012 American Music Awards- and I tuned in to see all the new gowns and also to support my YouTube fav- Shay Carl from his family’s channel: He was there hosting the red carpet with other celebrities including Sean Kingston and Lance Bass!

Once I got past my geek-out seeing Shay’s success on the carpet I could focus on the fashion. Overall it was a disappointing fashion awards show- but with that said my #1 and 2 I absolutely LOVE:

Christina Aguilera: Love the ombre effect of the fabric and the flattering shape. Not a fan of the bangs.

Phillip Phillips: Bond. Phillip Bond. Yup. Nuff’ said.

Kelly Clarkson: Love the dramatic spikes and embellishments on her dress- girl power! It fit her performance to a tee.

Ryan Seacrest: Looking dapper as always. I kind of like that he didn’t wear a tie.

Pink and Carey Hart: A nice mixture of tough with a gooey center. And by the way, her performance was just amazing!

Lady Antebellum- Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood: They take the cake for best dressed group!

Shay Carl and Collette Butler: The heads of my favorite YouTube entertainers! Shay looked spiffy. No other word for it. Collette looked lovely as usual.

Kelly Rowland: Is it just me or there a lot of Kelly’s up in this countdown? Miss Rowland’s dress was a 10- fit, style, pattern. Her hair and shoes were frosting on the top. 🙂

Carrie Underwood: Love. This. Dress. The fit, color, pattern again are a 10.

Drumroll please!!

Taylor Swift: Talk about a perfect dress! The sparkle, the fit, the cut and the overall look are amazeballs. The picture can’t begin to do it justice. Seeing it move and shimmer on tv brought this dress to life. Taylor nailed it! 🙂

Emmys Fashion 2012

64th Annual Emmys = Fashion.

And without further ado I present my top 10 favorites from this evening’s ceremonies:

10- Glenn Close

Very architectural dress- feminine and strong!:

9- Padma Lakshmi

Silhouette, Silhouette, Silhouette!

8- Julianne Hough

Julianne is 5′ 4″ and this dress makes her look 6′ 2″! I love the sequins at the bottom of the dress and the silhouette:

7- Sarah Hyland

Love the details and the sparkle:

6- Emily Vandercamp

This one mixes architecture and romance:

5- Giuliana Rancic

The styling (and the dress) are killer:

4- Nancy O’Dell

Love the silhouette and the color gradation:

3- Lucy Liu

Metal magic- the structure is awesome:

2- Hayden Panettiere

Love the structure underneath this Indian inspired wrap gown from Marchesa and the colors used:

1- Kerry Washington

Simple elegance, and the movement of this dress was stunning:

Love the dresses! Can’t wait until the upcoming awards ceremonies for the next round of gowns!

84th Academy Awards

“Nothing takes the sting out of these tough economic times like watching a bunch of millionaires giving golden statues to each other,” – 2012 Academy Awards Host Billy Crystal.

Tough economic times or not it’s always fun to watch the celebrities arrive on the red carpet and to judge their outfits. I was really impressed with the dresses at this past Sunday’s Oscars- I loved about ten of them, didn’t hate the rest, and only thought one was ugly!

This has got to be a record.

Counting down from my 10th favorite to my favorite dress of the night… these are my top ten dresses of the Oscars:

(Because everyone needs a cape once in awhile)

(Sass and Class- that’s Meryl!)

(A gorgeous colorful look for a colorful and hilarious lady!)

(Love Octavia, and love the structure of her flattering dress!)

(Sporty + flirty = Cameron!)

(Stunning yet relaxed- only Jessica could pull it off)

(I think this dress should be used in the upcoming movie ‘The Hunger Games’ for the ‘Girl on Fire’) 🙂

(George Clooney’s trophy girlfriend- for real!)

(Organic and sparkly = Amazeballs!) 😉

(A class act- one of the first on the Red Carpet, Milla’s amazingly gorgeous dress could not be topped)

Hope you enjoyed! Which are your favorites? Any I left out?

(Hopefully not Berenice Bejo- her dress was a hot mess).  She (very unfortunately) looked like a melting mint ice cream cone:

Ferris Wheels and Red Carpet Couture

February 14

Valentine’s Day- and…

the birthday of George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr.

– the inventor of the Ferris Wheel –

Just one more reason to celebrate this holiday!

For those of us without a significant other this year- or even those with one- Valentine’s Day can be more than just a corporate event that supports local florists, candy stores and jewelers. It is one day set aside to make sure we tell people how much we appreciate/love them.

*Side note to future husband: I would prefer to get flowers at work on a random day for no particular reason at all.  Wink, wink 🙂

In other news, the Grammys were this past weekend- and other than a few ‘interesting’ parts I thought it was the best yet.

My favorite group, ‘The Civil Wars’ were nominated for their first two grammy awards and they won them both!! They even preformed on the show!

Every year I watch the arrivals on the red carpet and rate the best and worst outfits for the year. In no particular order, here they are!

My Favorites:

Adele: Class, as always

Kelly Rowland: Beautiful- I don’t have a pix of the back but it’s amazeballs

The Civil Wars: I couldn’t just put a picture of Joy because John Paul looked very dapper- and his shoes are fantastic.

Paris Hilton: Usually not on my list, but I actually really like her dress

Taylor Swift: LOVE this dress!

The Truly Awful, ‘What Were they Thinking!? Outfits:

Fergie: Really? Epic stylist fail.

Robyn: The mullet dress. Doesn’t work for hair, and it doesn’t work for clothing.

Nicki Minaj: Little Red Riding Hood gone wrong.

Dead Mouse: I understand it’s his ‘stage presence’ to wear the crazy mouse head, don’t you think he should have worn a suit??

Sasha Gradiva: Love the dress, but the gun/arm accessory is not necessary.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
