Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016!!

2016

This past year has been a mixed bag of ups and downs. There were lots of closed doors and newly opened ones. It has been a year of creativity, waiting, growth and soul searching. As 2015 draws to a close today I can’t help but look back and reflect as one normally does this time of year. I can honestly say I am in a much better place than I was at the beginning of the year. As I assess the year I can’t help but feel inspired for all the new year has to bring and all I have to give to it. I put together another list of goals to accomplish – a bucket list, my 2016 Manifesto if you will. I have listed them below and plan on following up on them throughout 2016.

I wish you all a beautiful  new year full of happy memories, adventure, love, prosperity and health. I hope we all grow, learn and discover new things every day. Start each day with a positive attitude and a can-do spirit. Love with all your heart, be humble,  honest and kind. Give to those who have not and take only what is given freely. God bless, and have a Happy New Year!!

                My 2016 Manifesto

  1. Create an in depth family tree with personal information about ancestors

‘Big Magic’ by Elizabeth Gilbert [ REVIEW ]

big magic

One of my goals for 2015 is to get back to my roots and read more books. As the great Frederick Douglass said, ‘Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.’ Books are a passion – nay, an obsession of mine and always have been. I grew up in the library and my parents fostered my love of reading and learning. With books I have lived a thousand lives, found myself absorbed in different worlds, and learned immensely more than I could have otherwise. So put up your feet, grab a good paperback and let’s get reading!

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert (author of ‘Eat Pray Love’) is a very unique and inspiring book. Gilbert speaks of one’s courage to step beyond the restrictions they place around themselves to be free to accept ideas as they come to them. Ideas are a living thing that come to a person and go to another if they are not accepted or nurtured. She gives examples of how ideas have come and gone from her and others.

While I don’t necessarily think about the creative process the same way that Gilbert does, it is still a very inspiring book. She writes that people are scared of their own success. If it is not perfection we do not want to send our creation out into the world. She says it is much better to create and create and create and see what works and what doesn’t.

Fear is boring.

Creativity is for the brave- but not the fearless.

Be curious, you never know where exploration will lead you.

Lush : Intergalactic Bath Bomb [ REVIEW ]

One of my *unofficial* goals for 2015 is to relax more. As the great Leonardo da Vinci once said, ‘Every now and then go away and have a little relaxation. To remain constantly at work will diminish your judgement.” What is more relaxing close to home than a luxurious bath?  This year I will review products from my fav shop that makes fresh and handmade beauty goods, Lush! So draw up a bath, get a good book and a glass of wine, and let’s relax!

Lush’s Intergalactic bath bomb is so amazing. This is on my short list now of favorites! The smell is fantastic, the dissolving process is gorgeous as is the beautiful shimmery blue color of the bath, and it moisturizes your skin. It smells of peppermint, vetivert and cedarwood, (a.k.a. AMAZING) and was the most fun bath bomb to see in action.

I would highly recommend this one! It really was like an ‘intergalactic’ trip in the tub as the shimmer in the water looks like thousands of stars in the night sky. All in all a ten out of ten bath bomb.

Lush’s Dashing Santa fell a little flat for me. The worst part is that I had it sitting out for a few days before I used it and every time I walked through the restroom it smelled AMAZING. The scents are of mandarin oil, bergamot oil and orange flower absolute and are maybe the best thing ever.

The bath water turns a pretty pink color after the bath bomb dissolves fairly quickly. The scent disappeared in the bath though, and the water wasn’t very softening. Maybe if I used it with another bath bomb that moisturizes skin it would work out much better!

Lush : Milky Bath Bubble Bar [ REVIEW ]

One of my *unofficial* goals for 2015 is to relax more. As the great Leonardo da Vinci once said, ‘Every now and then go away and have a little relaxation. Lush’s Milky Bath Bubble Bar is pretty fantastic. Although there is no color to it, the bar produces massive amounts of bubbles and is SO softening. It smells fantastic as well, like orange oil. Moisturizing cocoa butter, skimmed milk and olive oil make your skin super soft.

I love this bubble bar and would definitely purchase it again. I only used half of the bar and it was perfect. I might try again next time with one of the magic wands to add a little color and additional scent.
