Cake Decoration 4: International Edible Book Festival

For one year I will make a birthday cake for all of my immediate family and close friends- and will complete a goal on my 2013 Manifesto. Come along on the ride with me- oh, and can I borrow a cup of sugar? ;)

This cake wasn’t for anyone’s birthday- it was for the International Edible Book Festival! With my friend Anna and her mom we made a cake based off of the popular children’s book, “The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear.” I made the mouse out of marzipan and the whiskers from uncooked spaghetti. We won ‘Most Delicious’ – and I think we would have won judge’s choice too- if at the last second they hadn’t made him change his vote ‘since a team can’t win twice’. The prizes were.. you guessed it- books! It was a fun event- and even better since we could eat the entries after the judging!
